Customs, Taxes & Duty
Each country has their own legislation regarding customs and taxes. In many countries, antique items (those deemed to be over 100 years old) are exempt from duty and where applicable, we will record your purchase as ‘antique’ on the customs paperwork. However, in some cases, you may be liable to pay local duties and taxes. Please refer to the Customs and Excise section of your country’s government website which will provide guidance on this. Heirlooms are not liable to pay for any import taxes or duties.
Please also note that in some countries, there are restrictions on the importation of some specific items such as Burmese ruby, ivory and some types of horn and shell. For further clarification, please refer to the Customs and Excise section of your country’s government website or contact us for guidance.
