A Victorian 9ct gold engraved cross pendant
This antique cross pendant is beautifully engraved to the front with two central flowers and trailing ivy overall. The back is plain polished and bears full hallmarks for Birmingham, 1899, with makers mark possibly for James Allen.
The bale will fit most chains and is plain polished.

Measurements: c. 4.8cm long including the bale.
Ivy was a common theme for jewellery design in the 19th century. Being an evergreen, the fact that it is always there and not forgotten made it an important symbol for the use in both religious jewellery such as this cross and in mourning jewellery.
