An Art Nouveau Silver Jewellery Box, Chester 1905
This beautiful silver box has repousse decoration to the lid detailing a portrait of a maiden with flowers in her hair, surrounded by rococo-stylise leaves, flowers, scrolls and cartouche.
The sides are plain polished silver and the underside is covered in a red grained leather.
The box is raised on four paw feet.
The lid interior is richly gilded. The box has the original fitted purple velvet and satin interior with sections for rings, loose items and pocket watches/small bracelets.
The box is hallmarked to the side for Chester 1905 with makers mark for George Nathan and Ridley Hayes. It is also marked with the date letter and lion passant to the front edge of the lid.
This piece is in excellent condition. There is some wear and fading to the velvet and satin interior consistent with age.The hallmarks are slightly worn but still legible.
