Victorian ‘acorn’ Diamond Stick Pin, Circa Late 19th Century

Victorian ‘acorn’ diamond stick pin, circa late 19th century

This unusual little Victorian stick pin is made from rose-cut diamonds and a green gemstone, possibly chrysoprase (it has not been tested due to the limitations of the setting), creating an acorn.

The acorn section swings freely from the top of the unmarked yellow gold pin. The drop of the acorn is 1.2cm.

Weight: 2.2g (all in)

The end of the stick pin has a later yellow metal barrel screw end to prevent the pin from being lost or from digging into you!

‘Mighty oaks from little acorns grow’ :  Acorns have long been associated with power, strength and long life so it is not surprising that the symbol became popular with jewellers in the 19th century.
