Victorian opal and diamond crescent brooch
This Victorian crescent brooch is set with 9 graduated opal cabochons displaying the most vibrant green-blue-orange iridescence.
It is set with 18 small old-mine cut diamonds accents to add a sparkle.
The piece is crafted in either 15 or 18ct yellow gold – it is stamped in an appliqué to the back but the stamping is slightly rubbed. Beside the hallmark, there is an engraved date referring to when the piece was gifted to the previous owner in 1983.
The brooch pin is made from a white metal. The safety chain is removable as it is a clip attachment and is likely to be a later addition.
Measurements: c. 5.3cm long
Weight: c. 6.5g (all in)
This piece is in lovely condition. However there is one very tiny chip to the very edge of one of the smaller opals. This is not visible with the naked eye.
